Before BGL (group) I was an expert catastrophiser. I suffered from anxiety and mood swings, and was constantly feeling let down. Now, I can reign in my busy mind and stop spinning one negative thought into an entire bad week! I’m finding joy in the small things. Everyone must do this course! It’s LIFE CHANGING!
The full story:
I found myself struggling with anxiety about so many things. My very busy mind would take me round and round in circles. I was an expert “catastrophiser” and had major expectations of so many things in my life, that always seemed to leave me feeling let down and snappy. I would swing wildly from having a great day, to being a box of nerves or in a puddle of tears, over something as insignificant as a sideways glance or an off-hand comment.
I had been following Project Self for a while on social media and all of Andrea’s blog posts really resonated with me.
I loved the raw honesty of Andrea’s posts, and learning that I wasn’t alone in the way I was thinking and feeling.
I was terrified of being so open and honest with others, but signed up for the Bloody Good Life (group) program anyway.
Bloody Good Life has helped me to be much calmer. I have a better understanding of how my mind works and why it reacts in the way it does. Learning to let go of expectations of how things “should” be has allowed me to relax and enjoy all the great things that are happening in my life instead. I have also (apparently) become a nicer person to be around as I am now much more capable of managing my reactions to a situation.
I have loved all of Andrea’s course. The mix of theory and practice is great. I am a scientist so I LOVE detailed explanations.
The weekly spacing was just the right amount, and the group calls stopped me from allowing myself to procrastinate!
The online training videos with the mix of both videos and text were great for me. I found them succinct and easy to digest. Andrea speaks very clearly without being patronising at all, which is a difficult skill to master!
We had a fantastic group that we worked with. Everyone was very supportive and honest with each other about their individual struggles and wins. It normalised the way I have been feeling.
Being able to talk openly without judgement was one of my favourite parts of the course.
I found the Facebook Group awesome for sharing ideas and links to other information, as well as for asking questions and receiving support. Andreas support in the Facebook group was always present and full of positive, helpful comments. I personally, work much better with external accountability, so I really benefited from this group.
The live group calls were another favourite part of the course for me.
I loved hearing about other people’s struggles and what they had learnt. I also loved how people shared questions or experiences that triggered (in a good way!) thoughts and revelations for me.
The workbooks were nice and brief, giving pointers on the homework and what to think about for the week ahead, without needing hours of writing to complete.
The extra module resources were fantastic. They provided supporting evidence and additional information to Andrea’s video explanations. I enjoyed the mixture of funny videos, deep explanations and links to other websites. There was something for everyone!
Bloody Good Life has taught me how to reign in my very busy mind, and really find joy in the small things.
I’ve learnt how to stop spinning one negative comment into a bad week, which is absolutely vital in my line of work!
My suggestion to everyone out there; Do this course!
